A newly married woman, resident of Sutihar Mathiya village in Saran district, was murdered in Hajipur, Vaishali. The allegation is that the woman’s brother-in-law trapped her in a love trap. He kidnapped her from her home and married her. A few days later, when his demand of a bike and two lakh rupees in dowry was not met, he murdered her. Not only that, he also made the body disappear. A case has been registered in Hajipur City Police Station by the brother of the deceased. Ranjeet Kumar Tiwari, son of Lalbabu Tiwari, resident of Sutihar Mathiya village under Derni police station area of Saran, has lodged an FIR by submitting a written application in Hajipur City Police Station.

Victim Ranjit Tiwari told that his younger sister Preeti Kumari was trapped in a love trap by Vivek Kumar Jha alias Bunty Jha, brother-in-law of his elder sister Rita Devi. He lured my younger sister and ran away from home in January 2024 and married her. After a few days, he started living in a rented house in Gandhi Nagar, Harinagar Hajipur. After a few days, Vivek Kumar Jha and his family started constantly harassing Preeti for dowry.

My parents told that Preeti’s in-laws started harassing my sister in every way and started pressuring her to give them a Pulsar bike and two lakh rupees as dowry. They were harassing her on refusal. Although we went there many times and tried to convince them but no one listened. Meanwhile, my sister informed me on phone that my in-laws can kill me anytime. After this, we tried to talk to them on phone for many days but we started getting suspicious when there was no conversation. After that, when we reached there, no one was found. However, when we investigated around, we came to know that my sister has been murdered. After this, we tried to establish contact with her in-laws but it could not happen. My elder sister Rita Devi has been living with us in her parents’ house for many months. She has also become scared. After this, an FIR has been registered by giving a written application to the police. The victim’s family has appealed to the police for justice.
